Chapter 11 · Every screen, part by part
Universities
Every institution in your workspace, and how far each one has got. This is the screen for deciding where to spend research, before deciding who.
1 — Search. Matches the university's name only. It does not search departments, professors or notes — for those, use ⌘K.
2 — Filters. Each one narrows the list, and they combine:

| Nothing researched | Only universities where no professor has been researched yet — the useful one when deciding where to start |
3 — Add university. A name is all you need. You do not need a professor list, a department, or anything else: create the record, and research fills in the rest. Chapter 2 covers adding many at once from a spreadsheet.
4 — Columns. Show or hide any column, and reset to the default. The setting is remembered for you. Two columns are hidden by default here, which is why the button says so.
5 — University. The name. Clicking it opens the university, where its departments, programs, labs and professors live.
6 — Faculty. How many professors are on the record for this university. This is the size of the roster you imported or research discovered, not a claim about the institution's actual size.
7 — Researched. How many of those have been through research, as a fraction and a
percentage, with a bar. 0 / 167 (0%) is the normal state of a freshly imported university
— it means the roster is there and nobody has been looked at yet.
8 — High match. How many professors at this university scored well against your profile. Empty until matches have been scored, which happens after research and publishing.
9 — Structure. Whether the university's departments, programs and labs have been mapped. Not mapped means research has not run at this level yet, and it is worth doing first: it is what makes professor research aim at the right people.
10 — Data. The trust state of the university record itself, on the same scale as everywhere else in the app.
